PL 808.01 Phenomenology of Desire

A study of several phenomenological theories of desire from Hegel, Sartre and Levinas to Lacan, Kristeva and Ricoeur. There will also be discussion of Plato's Symposium and certain literary examples (Proust, Flaubert, Dostoyevsky).

Requirements:
class participation, a presentation, and a final term paper
