The syntax is the same as with {help generate} with the exception, that either a variable label, or option {opt definition} is specified additionally. {title:Options} {phang} {opt definition} specifies that anything on the right hand side of the equal sign is used as the variable label. This option is required if no variable label is specified. {phang} {opt equalsign} does not strip the equal sign from the variable label. This option may only be combined with {opt definition}. {phang} {opt noby} does not add "(by {it:byvars})" to the variable label, if a {cmd:by} prefix is used and {opt definition} is specified. {title:Examples} {phang2}{cmd:. labgen2 byte foo "foobar" = (bar == 1)}{p_end} {phang2}{cmd:. labgen2 byte foo = (bar == 1) ,definition}{p_end} {title:Acknowledgments} {pstd} The second syntax replicates the behavior of {stata findit labgen:labgen} by Nick Cox. {pstd} If a definition exceeds the length of 80 characters it is put into {help notes}. This behavior is also borrowed from {cmd:labgen}. {title:Author} {pstd}Daniel Klein, University of Bamberg, klein.daniel.81@gmail.com {title:Also see} {psee} Online: {help generate}, {help label} {p_end} {psee} if installed: {help labgen}, {help vlgen}, {help labutil2} {p_end}
