Undergraduate Study Program in Sankt-Peterburg (Russia)

Fall and Spring semester sessions

An exclusive undergraduate-level academic program for Boston College undergraduates with post-intermediate Russian abilities at the illustrious Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkinskij Dom) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

One or two full-semester (sixteen-week) study / research sessions (September through December and January through May) in one of the most cultured and most beautiful Russian cities.

Russian Literature and Language at the Russian Academy of Sciences

Registration in upper-level Boston College courses taught by renowned scholars from the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkinskij Dom), Russia's highest institution of literary research and learning, and by specialists in other areas from neighboring institutions such as the University of Sankt-Peterburg (LGU), and the Gercen Pedagogical University, with access for research purposes to archives and collections in Sankt-Peterburg.

All courses taught exclusively in Russian.

Living in private families

Boarding and a room of one's own with a Russian family, living in and enjoying the hospitality of a Russian family -- and avoiding insitutional life in bleak dormitories or long food queues.

A peer tutor to provide personal and dedicated assistance with the ins and outs of Russian language, Russian academic practices, and cultural acclimatization.

An cultural program presenting the architectural monuments of Sankt-Peterburg and the surrounding area, excursions to the theater and museums, meetings with writers, artists, composers and performers.

Receiving full academic degree credit

Continued enrollment as a full-time Boston College student.

All-inclusive cost

travel, tuition & registration, room & board = regular BC undergraduate tuition
$8945 per semester (AY 1995/96)
