World Telecommunication Indicators (2002 Edition) on econ.bc.edu

The WTI 2002 dataset contains up to 84 annual "indicators," or variables, for 209 countries over the 42 years 1960-2001. These data may be directly accessed as a Stata dataset. If you need a copy of Stata, please contact Academic Technology Services.

There are three Stata binary datasets:

itucty : contains country codes and names

ituser: contains series codes and descriptions

itu2002: the data themselves

In the itu2002 datafile, each record contains four identifiers:

obsnr: series number, 1-84
sercode: series code
ctycode: three-letter country code
year: four-digit year

and the data value, as a double. To work with these data (which are in the 'long-long' form, in Stata terminology) the program wdidata.do may be useful. This program was designed for the World Development Indicators dataset, which shares the same database format.
