BC Economists publish in flagship journals

The latest issue of the profession's flagship journal, American Economic Review, highlights the work of a newly hired member of the BC Economics faculty, Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Ekmekci, and his coauthor Alp E. Atakan. "Auctions, Actions, and the Failure of Information Aggregation" evaluates auction mechanisms and the degree to which prices freely set in markets "accurately summarize the vast array of information held by market participants."

Assistant Prof. Ryan Chahrour, whose article "Public Communication and Information Acquisition" appears in the latest issue of one of the AEA's highly respected field journals, American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics. His work models the "tradeoff, perceived by central banks and other public actors, between providing the public with useful information and the risk of overwhelming it with excessive communication."
