A new program providing first-tier local support for researchers' statistical computing needs has been established by Associate Vice President for Research Michael Smyer. I will be coordinating the program, which will be administered by the Faculty Micro Resource Center (FMRC). Three doctoral students in areas related to empirical research will be hired this September. Please see

I have discussed this opportunity with Frank Gollop and Peter Ireland; both agree that it would be very valuable experience for a student in the Economics graduate program. I hope that one of the three positions available this fall will be filled by an econ student. The position carries a $15,000 stipend for the academic year and full tuition remission.
