A new program providing first-tier local support for researchers' statistical computing needs has been established by Associate Vice President for Research Michael Smyer. I will be coordinating the program, which will be administered by the Faculty Micro Resource Center (FMRC). Three doctoral students in areas related to empirical research will be hired this September. Please see http://fmwww.bc.edu/GStat/GSA.html for a one-page 'flyer' that summarizes these opportunities. The link on the flyer leads to pages which give full details of the program, its objectives, and a position description. I have discussed this opportunity with Frank Gollop and Peter Ireland; both agree that it would be very valuable experience for a student in the Economics graduate program. I hope that one of the three positions available this fall will be filled by an econ student. The position carries a $15,000 stipend for the academic year and full tuition remission. If you are interested, please review the several web pages referenced above completely, and see me for any additional information. Thank you for your consideration. Kit Baum Economics and FMRC
