Dear Colleague: A new program providing first-tier local support for researchers' statistical computing needs has been established by Associate Vice President for Research Michael Smyer. Since Dean Smyer is away from campus on a Fulbright for several weeks, he asked me to spread the word so that we may start identifying candidates for the three Graduate Statistical Assistant (GSA) positions to be filled by qualified doctoral students this September. I will be coordinating the program, which will be administered by the Faculty Micro Resource Center (FMRC). Please see http://fmwww.bc.edu/GStat/GSA.html for a one-page 'flyer' that summarizes these opportunities. The link on the flyer leads to pages which give full details of the program, its objectives, and a position description. Please help us identify enthusiastic, qualified candidates for these positions, and encourage them to apply to the GSA program. This message has been sent to academic administrators, librarians, selected department chairs, A&RS personnel, the Academic Technology Committee and the Statistics and Methodology Working Group. Please forward it to any other colleagues who might find it useful. Thank you for your consideration. Kit Baum Economics and FMRC
