All value labels specified in {it:lblname-list} are modified according to definitions. If {it:lblname-list} is not specified it defaults to {hi:_all}, meaning all value labels in memory. Note that value labels must exist. {pstd} {hi:Reminder:} modifiactions affect all variables that have the same value label as one of the value labels (or variables - see {help labmm##r:Remarks}) in {it:lblname-list} attached. {marker r} {title:Remarks} {pstd} Also this is no longer shown in the syntax diagram, {it:lblname-list} is actually {it:namelist} and allows variable names. Thus, the syntax diagram reads {p 8} {cmd:labmm} [{it:lblname-list}|{varlist}] {it:#} {cmd:"}{it:label}{cmd:"} [{it:#} {cmd:"}{it:label}{cmd:"} {it:...}] {pstd} The reason this is no longer shown, is that specifying variable names to refer to value label names violates Stata conventions. If variable {hi:foo} has value label {hi:foobar} attached, specifying {hi:foo} in {it:varlist}, modifies value label {hi:foobar}. The modifications also affect variable {hi:bar}, if {hi:bar} has value label {hi:foobar} attached. I thank Daniel Possenriede for bringing this to may attention again. {title:Examples} {phang2}{cmd:. sysuse nlsw88}{p_end} {phang2}{cmd:. labmm .a "don't know" .b "refused"}{p_end} {phang2}{cmd:. labmm marlbl .c "divorced"}{p_end} {phang2}{cmd:. label list}{p_end} {title:Acknowledgments} {pstd} Modifying multiple value labels was suggested by Anna Reimondos on {browse "http://www.stata.com/statalist/archive/2010-04/msg00554.html":Statalist}. Michael Norman Mitchell's solution led to this ado. {title:Author} {pstd}Daniel Klein, University of Kassel, klein.daniel.81@gmail.com {title:Also see} {psee} Online: {help label}{p_end} {psee} if installed: {help labvalch}, {help labdel}, {help strrec}, {help labutil2} {p_end}
