It searches all variable names and variable labels just as {help lookfor:lookfor} does. Like {help lookfor:lookfor} {cmd:lookforit} can search for multiple strings but can only do a simple search, i.e. no &'s, |'s, or enclosing strings in quotes. The ways that {cmd:lookforit} differs are as follows:{p_end} {p 4 4 2} 1) {cmd:lookforit} does a case sensitive search if the user types any upper case characters, otherwise, it performs a case insensitive search{p_end} {p 4 8 2}{cmd:. lookforit female} {p_end} {p 4 4 2} finds "Female", "FEMALE", "feMale", or even "FemalePatient"{p_end} {p 4 4 2}{cmd:. lookforit Female}{p_end} {p 4 4 2} only finds "Female"{p_end} {p 4 4 2} 2) {cmd:lookforit} lists variables alphabetically{p_end} {p 4 4 2} 3) The variable names are clickable links to the data editor that opens Stata's data editor to that variable column.{p_end} {title:Examples} {p 4 8 2}{cmd:. lookforit job}{p_end} {p 4 8 2}{cmd:. lookforit employment Salary}{p_end} {p 4 8 2}{cmd:. lookforit inc}{p_end} {title:Author} {p 4 4 2} Dan Blanchette {break} The Carolina Population Center {break} University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, USA {break} dan_blanchette@unc.edu{p_end} {title:Also see} {p 4 13 2} Online: help for {help lookfor}, {help ds} {p_end}
