Depending on {it:filename}'s extension, the output is translated to one of several file formats using Stata's {helpb translate} command. {title:Options} {dlgtab:Main} {phang} {opt nocmd} specifies that the command line not be echoed in the output. {phang} {opt replace} specifies that {it:filename} be replaced if it already exists. {dlgtab:Output format} {phang} {opt ps}, {opt prn}, {opt txt}, {opt log}, {opt smcl}, and {opt pdf} (MAC only) set the output format. Specify one of these options to override the default behavior, which is to determine the output format from {it:filename}'s extension. The default mappings are as follows: {it:option extension translator format} {hline 53} {opt ps} .ps {stata translator query smcl2ps:{bf:smcl2ps}} PostScript {opt prn} .prn {stata translator query smcl2prn:{bf:smcl2prn}} default printer format {opt txt} .txt {stata translator query smcl2txt:{bf:smcl2txt}} generic ASCII text log {opt log} .log {stata translator query smcl2log:{bf:smcl2log}} Stata ASCII text log {opt smcl} .smcl (none) SMCL .sthlp (none) SMCL (Stata 10 up) .hlp (none) SMCL (Stata 9) {opt pdf} .pdf {stata translator query smcl2pdf:{bf:smcl2pdf}} PDF (Mac only) {hline 53} {pmore} For all other extensions {cmd:txt} is used as the default output format. However, note that {cmd:saveresults} is sensitive to the mappings defined by {helpb transmap}. For example, to declare PostScript the default format for extension ".myps" you could type {com}. transmap define .myps .ps{txt} {phang} {it:override_options} are passed through to {helpb translate} and override any of the default options of the used translator. To find out what you can override for, say, {cmd:ps}, type {com}. translator query smcl2ps{txt} {pmore} For example, there is a {cmd:logo} option for most translators, which you could turn off by typing {com}. saveresults {txt}{it:...}{com}, logo(off) :{txt} {it:command} {pmore} Alternatively, you can change translator options permanently using the {cmd:translator set} command.
